Buttermilk Biscuits vs Homestyle Biscuits.. McDonalds vs Tim Hortons Breakfast Sandwiches

It is perhaps the most troubling question facing mankind today… which is better, the McDonalds Buttermilk Breakfast sandwich, or the Tim HortonsHome style Biscuit sandwich? As a gift to mankind, I have done a thorough analysis of both breakfast sandwiches in the search of the truth.

To begin with, let us review the basic nutritional characteristics of both sandwiches. A McDonalds bacon and egg biscuit sandwich has 460 calories and 27 grams of fat. The sausage and egg version from the Golden Arches has 590 calories and 37 grams of fat. In comparison, a Tim Horton’s Breakfast sandwich with bacon, egg and cheese clocks in at 430 calories and 24 grams of fat, while the sausage and egg version has 530 calories and 34 grams of fat.

What can we deduce from this information? Both sandwiches will kill you if you eat enough of them. Then again, no one ever suggested that these taste morsels of morning happiness were designed to give you 6 pack abs. Furthermore, as the McDonald’s sandwich is bigger in volume, I think that we can say that interims of nutritional content, both are about the same.

In terms of texture, the crumbly moist McDonalds treat has to get the nod. The sandwich crumbles in your mouth as if it has finally found a resting place after a long, long journey home. That is a far cry from the McMuffin offerings from McDonalds, which to me resemble small would be hockey pucks.

The most important consideration in any comparison is of course, taste. Both are very, very yummy. I would have to give the nod to Tim Horton’s on this all important category, however. To me, despite its many fine features, the McDonalds buttermilk sandwich tastes a little too much of milk. Sometimes, I feel almost as if I was suckling from a cow’s utter (not that I have done that in recent weeks)

What, therefore, is the solution for those of us who want the size features offered by McDonalds, with the taste of a Tim Horton’s Biscuit treat? The solution is rather simple... just have TWO of Timmies Home style Biscuit sandwiches. There is no need to feel guilt and the double indulgence either. After all, if you were going for the McDonald’s version, you might be tempted to order a combo and get a Hash Brown as well, and these little greasy fried lizard tongues are 160 calories (10 grams of fat each).

The bottom line, I vote for a double order of Home style biscuit sandwich with a double double coffee and Timmies. Hopefully, your Tim Horton's coffee won't be burnt.

I think just reading the nutritional information clogged my arteries.

If I had to pick though, I would go with sucking a cow's udder. I think that would be healthier.

I guess it depends on how pretty the cow is :)

I didn't know people actually ate those things. What about a piece of fruit, instead? Much more refreshing, yes?

fruit inside a buttermilk biscuit??

:)

This is hilarious. Is it unfair that I voted even though I'm a vegetarian? I've also never had Tim Horton's, since it's only popular in the Northeast (of the US).

I will have the Greek crap

@Greek One... spiced fried apples and sharp cheddar on a biscuit is akin to ambrosia from the gods.
